april has come and gone and i neglected to keep you guys up to speed, so let's recap.
wesley seminary...
created more chapel visuals, wrapped up the class i taught, produced visuals for the drama department's production of 'wit,' and served as one of six speakers for a workshop on arts in worship offered to lay people all over the mid-atlantic. we've already had requests to take the show on the road so stay tuned. also joined the 'revisioning team' concerning interim and future renovations to the campus chapel, particularly in the areas of a/v. that last one was kind of surreal. we'll see what my future holds with regard to a future role at wesley.
freelance print work...
continued my freelance work as a print graphic artist for a couple of offices at wesley as well as some work for vpc. all of this kind of cracks me up as i'm pretty much winging it. but the amazing guys at donnelly's printing (see donnprint.com) have really helped teach me the finer points of it all. it must be working...i already have work lined up at wesley for the fall, with interest expressed by other offices there as well.
what i'm really good at...
in the midst of everything else, last month found me busy creating visuals for services at vpc. in fact, this month is finding me even busier...right this second i am juggling three projects - two services for vpc (memorial day weekend, the kick-off for our final capital funds campaign) and the choralis concert visuals. i'm still slogging through trying to get just the english and german built for haydn's 'creation' - it takes forever as the english translation is totally goofy and because german grammar is significantly different from english. it is extremely time-consuming not only trying to get the words to match up but trying to figure out how to split the sentences. it makes my head hurt - and i took four years of german in high school and lived four years in berlin. it's all coming in handy but let me just say that haydn didn't really write for visual accompaniment. at least not like handel and bach. sigh.
oh, and one more thing - i have spent every odd moment trying to help out wherever i can with my church's capital funds campaign. my 'open doors' shot now graces the cover of just about everything we've printed, and i handed over literally 1000s of images i've shot over the years, some of which made it to this year's campaign dvd. you can see it online here: http://viennapres.org/OpenDoors-OpenHearts/video/
more later. :]
